DISCUSS, not DICTATE

⚽ DISCUSS, not DICTATE. 👌🏻

Coaches often spend too much time telling kids what they should or shouldn’t be doing.

Whilst the coach may have a higher level of knowledge, this way of giving information to kids can make them switch off and become disengaged.

By opening up a discussion with your players, you can change a session for the better. Question them on their understanding and knowledge, then build them up from there.

You can often find that kids are more likely to listen and much more likely to care about the outcomes of the session if they feel they have had some input themselves.

Over the years, one thing is for sure is that we have been shocked at times, just how much knowledge young kids have of the game! So don’t assume you know it all and they don’t.

Start a debate, discussion or conversation with your players to see just how much they really know.
